About Me

Hello! I am Samantha Cornish - founder of Samantha Cornish Photography. I am a photographer who specialises in portrait photography based in Hamilton, New Zealand. 

 

My love for photography started 10 years ago when I was exposed to the industry through modelling. Although I was on the other side of the lens at that point, I was fortunate enough to have exposure to the incredible detail and processes that went into creating visionary pieces of art, from shoot design right down to final delivery.  

 

I went on to have 3 beautiful children who were the inspiration in me picking up a camera and learning the craft in more depth. I had always loved portrait photography and marveled at the story that a portrait could hold without any words.

 

What excites me the most about portrait photography is the level of expression and creative freedom. The storytelling that is possible, and the way in which an image makes the viewer feel. Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it. That’s why it’s my job as a professional photographer to capture those beautiful moments, so everyone can see the beauty of it.  

 

For me, photography will always be about creating and unpacking a visionary process with a client. It will always be about the smiles and joy my images can produce and create a thought-provoking experience.
